FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Please just click on the plus sign beside any question to display the answer.
+ How do I win a netbook?
The first 20 percent who register for each event will be eligible to win the free netbook.
For example, if 30 people sign up for the Austin event, we'll have a drawing with just the first six people who registered. The drawing will be on Saturday afternoon during the Technology Show 'N Tell.
+ Is this seminar only for Eclipse people?
Of course not! We're offering breakout sessions in Dallas, San Antonio, Austin and the California Wine Tour for both Eclipse and Case Catalyst. The other sessions are all about ethics, technology and food. I have friends on every CAT system, and you will never hear me disparage anyone's software preferences!
The CAT software classes are covering what I think makes each program special. If you haven't been keeping up with technology, it's always good to know what the latest developments are and how you can benefit from them.
If you are considering purchasing Eclipse, you can get the program for around $85 per month and attend the Eclipse class for free with your training certificate.
+ Do I get CE credits for this seminar?
Yes! Our seminars are always submitted for pre-approval by the Texas Court Reporters Certification Board as well as NCRA. Each day provides 10 hours for TCRCB credits or 1.0 CEUs for NCRA.
Most states honor any course that has been pre-approved by NCRA for credits.
The 50 Ways to Lose Your License session meets the requirements for Texas reporters to get the 2.5 hours of ethics training.
+ What if I only need ethics credits?
You are welcome to come to just the ethics portion of any event for $75.
+ Who is presenting this seminar?
My name is Julie Samford, and I worked as a court reporter for 14 years in both Texas and Louisiana.
Ten years ago, I found I have a passion for public speaking and helping reporters and students, and I've been traveling all over the world training on Eclipse, doing motivational speeches for students and technology and realtime sessions for many state associations as well as NCRA.
I'm a mom to an awesome nine-year-old little boy. I have three dogs and a cat, and I believe in living life to the fullest and having as much fun as is humanly possible every day!
Larry Paiz and Rene' Moraefi are both extremely talented certified Stenograph trainers, and they will be covering the Case Catalyst training. Larry is with Court Reporting Institute of Dallas and Rene' is an experienced realtime reporter in Houston.
+ How much do the classes cost?
The one-day Texas classes are $225 per day, and each day includes lunch!
The cost for the two-day California Wine Country seminar is $275 or $150 per day.
The student rate for any seminar is just $75.
+ What if I need to cancel?
I understand how a busy reporter's schedule can change. If you need to cancel, we'll gladly move your registration to another weekend or refund your money, minus $10 to cover credit card fees.
Please let us know as soon as possible, as we're providing lunch for you and need to make arrangements!
+ What do I bring to the seminar?
For the ethics, technology and food class, you don't need to bring anything. This is an easy, relaxing class, and you will not need your computer.
For the Case CATalyst and Eclipse training, please bring your laptop and power strip. You will not need your writer.
+ What is the new Central Texas local reporters organization?
There is a new association being formed to serve the region that includes Waco, Austin, Bryan and some other places that I'm not sure of at this moment!
I'll post the information on Realtime Ready as it becomes available The first meeting will be sometime in September.
There will be a meeting that all reporters are welcome to attend immediately following the Saturday class in Austin. There is a large meeting area that is conveniently located just outside the meeting room in a bar area.
Local reporter Karen Goh will be performing beginning at about 3:00, and reporters are welcome to network, have a beverage and appetizers and enjoy the music. At 4:00, we will have a brief official meeting to talk about the new association.
You do not have to come to the Realtime Ready event to participate in the local association network gathering! Just come to the Westin at The Domain bar area at 3:00.
+ How can I contribute a prize or giveaways?
Please contact Julie Samford at (800) 320-6223 or email julie@realtimeready.com. We'll be glad to promote your product if you offer something of value for free to seminar attendees or offer a substantial discount. We'll hand out your product information at all four events or whichever ones you want to sponsor or particate in.
+ How do I register for an event?
Look for the big zebra registration buttons on the Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Wine Tour and Cruise pages to register online. You can also call Julie at (800) 320-6223.
If you'd like to send a check or training certificate by mail, please use this address: Realtime Ready 11400 Bastian Cove Austin, Texas 78739
Please also include a note to let us know which event you're registering for and your CSR or RPR numbers.
+ Do I get a group rate for staying at the hotel?
Yes! Please check back for hotel group rate info.
Vintner's Inn - $178 Realtime Ready discount
+ What if I don't need points this year?
I can honestly say that even if you don't need points, I believe this event will add value to your career as a reporter. While you are working on transcripts all day, I'm installing programs, testing, researching websites, looking for new products, attending 12 to 20 court reporting conventions each year and talking to vendors about what's new.
I'm like a consumer advocate for court reporters and technology ... I buy everything, try everything, and I'll give you the skinny on what's good and what's a waste of time. I also love to find a good bargain, and nothing's more fun than passing along a great deal to my friends!
+ What if I have other questions?
